Diesel releases its new AW ’19 pre collection, influenced by multiple contrasting elements for a glaring graphic impression—and the result is an ultra-bold, hybridized aesthetic. The blend combines American collegiate-wear, heavy metal, athletic gear and moments of grunge for a distinctly disruptive look. Both womenswear and menswear are revealed together, with a singular seasonal story dedicated to the world’s “brave hearts.”
As a constant, denim is the core of the Diesel AW ‘19 pre collection. New, alternative silhouettes are introduced, and the jeans are finished with rinses or light blue dyes, and finalized with shades, coating treatments and distressed abrasions. AW ’19 pre also marks an evolution in DIESEL’s denim aesthetic; JoggJeans progress with mixed materials and contrasting colors, including light and broken-in washed. Logos play a central part. This season will see the use of two standout Diesel trademarks: an oversize “Only The Brave” logo, and a reintroduction of the original “For Successful Living” logo.
Both appear on tees, hoodies, and more. The varsity, Ivy-league impression is tampered with through metal studding and cult graphics. Checks plaids are reinvented in a city-centric way, featuring innovative treatments on outerwear and shirts. Key pieces in this arena include fused hooded parkas (these are collection standouts), eye-catching tartan separates and Moto jackets patched together with jolts of bright or neon color.
The accessories offer is also a field of experimentation, through the use of bold logos, denim and puffy nylon. Logos appear in industrial shades of black, white, silver and bright red on items throughout the drop, while an 80’s duvet inspiration gives a touch of confidence in fluo colors. Hybrid sneakers and a trans-seasonal range of boots are also highlights.
